David James has been involved in the horse business his entire life and the breeding business since the early 1980’s.  Involved primarily in the performance horse industry, David developed the prominent Barpasser family of horses, including AQHA Leading Performance Horse Sire, Invitation Only.

 

After enjoying a very successful career, David dispersed his show horse operation in 2005.   He sold all of his performance horses, including Invitation Only.  The prolific stallion sold for a record breaking $2.35 million, the highest price ever for a Quarter Horse.

 

After his shift from the performance horse industry, David molded James Ranch into a commercial operation that serves primarily the racing and the barrel racing industries.  Having years of expertise as a successful horseman, David has created an entity that is known for quality care and superb management of horses entrusted in his care.

Over the past decade, David successfully stood several major stallions including Apollitical Jess, PYC Paint Your Wagon many others

After retirement in late 2021, David sold the James Ranch facility and now spends most of his time competing in various team roping events.
